The publication of one's own work in words and images leaves the space of creative work in the studio. The necessary look back at what has been realized can delay the forward momentum of active, artistic creation. The publication of a work is preceded by documentation and archiving - also work processes that are not usually associated with free work. This area of tension poses challenges for artists, as the structuring and communication of their own oeuvre is ultimately highly relevant, right through to making their life's work visible. Against this background, the Freiburg sculptor and artist Jochen Kitzbihler describes his personal experiences in the development of publications. This, using the example of a current double catalog publication as well as examples from his biography. The Freiburg book and catalog designer Annett Frey (freysign), who was involved in three of Jochen Kitzbihler's book productions, will also be present and open to questions. She will also provide examples of catalogs and art books she has designed, in which she can report from a rich background of experience.

Jochen Kitzbihler lives in Freiburg and Breitnau in the Black Forest. He was a member of the Artistic Advisory Board of Kunstverein Freiburg (art society Freiburg) from 2016 to 2024.
