Snooks play (original) compositions as well as well-known traditional standards

"Occasionally we say that we play the original blues. But that doesn't really mean anything. We just like to play old blues songs and immerse ourselves in the stories of the people who wrote them. We, like so many people, experience something similar and so their story becomes ours. We play old blues, but we play it today. We also get ourselves into trouble again and again, so we write our own stories and play our own licks. That's the only way we can stand behind it. Of course we cultivate traditions. Blues is one! The way it wants to be played, the melodic, harmonic and rhythmic foundations, the number of bars, the meter. But tradition is there to remind us of what is good, solid and tried and tested as we develop ourselves and things further. Standing firmly on the ground for the next step and then stumbling forward. That's the blues. Not taking yourself and life too seriously ... Music is life, music is communication and an expression of the now. In principle, it can only do this in the moments in which it is played. Live, directly, with the feeling you have at the moment."

The basis is Mississippi folk blues with its roots in worksong and field holler.
