Concert - Ratibor! And the Mississippi River... Homage to Ernst Toch
Thursday, 16/05/2024 / Augustinermuseum (Augustian Museum)
The Holst-Sinfonietta is dedicating a portrait concert in the Skulpturenhalle to the forgotten composer Ernst Toch. The ensemble is supported by the advanced music course of the Hans-Thoma-Gymnasium Lörrach. Rarely has a composer experienced such an extremely disparate biography between fame and oblivion as Ernst Toch (1887-1964) through the turmoil of persecution and exile. As a Jew born in Vienna, he achieved great fame in the 1920s and, together with Paul Hindemith, was regarded as a leading representative of the so-called New Objectivity. Admission costs 22 euros regular and 14 euros for pupils and students. Tickets and more information about the program can be found here.
