Hands-up comedy

Günter Fortmeier - winner of the Kleinkunstpreis Baden-Württemberg, 2016 - invented his hand theater cabaret 30 years ago, a kind of Punch and Judy show for adults. This form of minimal theater is unique in Germany.

During his mime and acting studies at the Folkwang University in Essen, he developed his unique theater with hands. He has been a welcome guest at festivals and guest performances throughout Europe for many years.

Through an intensive encounter with the famous Indian shadow puppeteer Prasana Rau, he refined his hand-shadow play and still feels very connected to this tradition today.
