Ivan Citéra, piano
Duration: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
In his art, pianist Ivan Cítera combines two great European traditions: the Viennese piano school, as taught by Poldi Mildner, and the Neapolitan school, as taught by Antonio De Raco, a student of Vincenzo Scaramuzza. He also owes a debt of gratitude to Andrzej Jasiński and to Sergiu Celibidache’s musical phenomenology, which profoundly shaped his approach to interpretation.
Following his solo orchestral debut performing Mozart at the age of nine, Cítera embarked on a worldwide concert career. This has taken him to renowned concert halls such as Carnegie Recital Hall in New York, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., the Rachmaninoff Hall in Moscow, the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, and numerous European philharmonic halls and cultural centers. He has received international recognition for his artistic work, including an award in 1999 from the Fundación Konex as an outstanding young artist and, in 2001, election as a corresponding member of the Academia Argentina de Música.
In addition to his performing career, Cítera has been deeply committed to fostering young talent since 1990. As an international lecturer for master classes and seminars in Europe and the Americas, he shares his experience and currently serves as a professor of piano and chamber music at the Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio (UAX) in Madrid, as well as artistic director of the Piano Master Series.
