Reading and Discussion with Asha Hedayati

Lectures, readings & discussions

Unequal incomes, inadequate spousal support, tax-advantaged dependencies within marriage, and a social welfare system that can push single parents into poverty: How do government structures prevent women from escaping abusive relationships?

Attorney and author Asha Hedayati will speak about economic violence and how the state fails to adequately protect affected women. She will highlight the legal and political changes needed to ensure that women are not faced with the life-or-death decision of enduring violence or risking financial hardship.

The event is aimed at students and is open to all faculty members.
