Collective Storytelling Engines: On All Fours—A Staged Reading

What if the end is the beginning? What if the second half of life is completely different from what we imagine? A woman disappears from her life and her marriage—not quietly, not in an orderly fashion, but “On All Fours” (KiWi, 2024, translated from English by Stefanie Jacobs). Her journey across the U.S. begins as a road movie, but then leads straight into the feminine heart of darkness: menopause. She strays from the path, ends up in a motel room, and reinvents herself there: dreaming, in pain, and with deeply unsettling desire.

Following its spectacular comic book readings from *In the Hall of Mirrors* and *I Don’t Feel It*, the feminist artist collective storytelling engines once again brings Miranda July’s globally acclaimed prose to the stage, telling the story of a woman who stops functioning—and thereby begins to live.
