Finding Career Paths: Information Session for Women with a Migration Background

How can women with roots in another country find their career path in Germany? An informational morning on Tuesday, October 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the historical merchants' hall on Münsterplatz will focus on this topic. It is aimed at women with a background in migration. Participation is free of charge and requires registration at www.frauundberuf-bw.de/freiburg.

Numerous institutions and counseling centers provide answers to questions about job searches, career prospects in the region, career guidance, education and training, recognition of foreign credentials, language courses, and much more. Several major employers in the region will be presenting themselves to visitors and offering “job dating” sessions. Through direct conversations with HR representatives, women seeking advice can learn about the entry-level opportunities these companies offer.

Alongside the “job dating” sessions and information fair, there will be one-hour workshops on career-related topics such as “What can I do? What do I want?”, “My migration experience—my greatest strength!”, and “Successful communication with companies” from a company’s perspective. Participants will explore the topics in small groups with an expert and engage in discussion.

After registering in advance at nadya.sahutoglu@freiburg.de, participants will have the opportunity throughout the event to have a professional headshot taken free of charge. A makeup artist will be on hand to help participants look their best in the photo, if desired.

Those who are not yet confident in German can seek assistance from language assistants who translate into languages such as Arabic, English, French, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, or Ukrainian. Please specify your language preference when registering.

The information morning is organized by the municipal contact center “Frau und Beruf Freiburg – Südlicher Oberrhein” and the Office for Migration and Integration. Support is provided by Freiburg Wirtschaft Touristik und Messe GmbH & Co. KG (FWTM).
