First steps towards digital freedom

An information evening for parents with Ivo Schölzke (Freiburg Police Headquarters) about the risks that children are exposed to on the Internet and their first steps towards digital independence.
Many children receive their first smartphone when they move from primary to secondary school and take their first unaccompanied steps into the world of the internet. At this point, most of them already have a wealth of experience and concrete ideas about which platforms they want to use. However, many offers are more problematic than they seem and not all dangers are easy to assess - neither for children nor for parents. The digital behavior of children and young people is shaped by examples set in the family, at school and among friends, by offers aimed at children and much more. Parents are an essential part of this environment and play a key role in shaping the gradual introduction to digitality. At the invitation of the Friends of Kopernikus Primary School, Ivo Schölzke from Freiburg Police Headquarters will provide information on what parents should look out for when gradually releasing their children into digital freedom. The event is primarily aimed at parents who are about to equip their children with mobile devices or are concerned with the topic in general. It is intended to help protect children and young people from criminal activities in the digital space.
