100 years of music in the Freiburg fire department

Why is there actually music in the fire department? --

The origins of fire department music date back to the 19th century. Back then, drums, whistles and bugles were key tools for conveying operational commands - such as "line up", "water march" or "gather". The so-called tambourines not only performed tactical tasks, but also used their clear signals to alert the population in the event of fires - long before sirens and radios. --

Today, fire department music no longer stands for alarms, but for community, commitment and cultural cohesion. It adds sparkle to festive occasions, strengthens team spirit and builds a bridge between the generations - a living expression of fire department tradition.
