Singing in all colors - the spark is always ignited when Sol Gabetta takes the stage at the Albert concerts. The world-class cellist's enthusiasm for what she does is transmitted immediately, at the latest when the first earthy tones emanate from her instrument. Gabetta's expressive facial expressions are the visible encore to the audible concentration and power of expression. Sol Gabetta always cultivates the depth of feeling, celebrates the narrative content of the melodic." (Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung)

At this year's guest performance, she shares the podium with a second sensationally talented personality: the internationally courted Finn Tarmo Peltokoski, only in his mid-twenties and already the newly appointed music director of the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse. Together they will bring Bloch's "Schelomo" to life: The artist, who says she is always "in search of color and songfulness", appreciates the fact that Bloch's rhapsody offers her instrument "an incredible platform. There are not many cello concertos that can do that." In fact, Bloch entrusts the cello with the word, so to speak: Inspired by his preoccupation with his Jewish roots, the composer combines the solo part with the words of King Solomon, as recorded in the Old Testament. Between meditative and cadenza-like passages, the rebellious orchestra, a symbol of the world, repeatedly escalates into an almost cinematic, sculptural frenzy.

Tarmo Peltokoski provides a counterpoint to the King's pensive lament with Anton Bruckner's Symphony in E flat major - also a tribute to the composer on the occasion of his 200th birthday.works such as the nature-loving "Romantic" were the composer's personal method of confronting the imperfection of the world: "Because the current world situation is spiritually seen as weakness, I take refuge in strength and write powerful music."
