20,000 km through Africa by bike
22 countries - 22 insights

A young woman, a bike - and the African continent. Wiebke Lühmann cycled alone from Freiburg to the Cape of Good Hope: 20,000 kilometers, 22 countries and 430 days full of surprises, doubts, encounters and inner change. At the MUNDOLOGIA Festival, she tells the unvarnished stories behind the seemingly perfect Instagram journey, which over 260,000 people followed online, in her captivating live report.

Her talk is a plea for courage, honesty and the power of self-efficacy. It begins with a broken plan: Wiebke sets off with a friend instead of her partner - but soon finds herself traveling alone. Her bike is stolen on the very first night in the Sahara. In Liberia, she celebrates her 30th birthday alone in the jungle, while her twin sister toasts in Germany. And yet, it is precisely in these moments that something grows inside her.

With impressive images, previously unpublished videos and deeply personal experiences, she shows how her view of freedom, safety and community has changed along the way. Wiebke's journey tells of a female perspective, of doubts and courage, of letting go and starting anew. And of the unexpected support she found in a Congolese monastery, of all places.

"From Freiburg to Cape Town" is not a heroine's story - but an invitation to see the world with your own eyes. Genuine, honest, encouraging.
