MUNDOLOGIA: Jungle worlds - additional date
Roland Hilgartner
Sunday, 01/02/2026 / 01:30 PM / Konzerthaus Freiburg (Concert hall)
Rough terrain, hot and humid air, hardly a sound - and then: a rustle, a shadow, eye contact with a jaguar. Roland Hilgartner has dedicated over 30 years of his life to exploring tropical rainforests. As an expedition photographer, primatologist and adventurer, he has spent more than 1,900 days in the most remote areas of the world. He traveled on foot, by dugout canoe or on barely mapped paths - always in search of the unknown.
In his fascinating live reportage, Hilgartner takes the audience into a world full of secrets, dangers and breathtaking beauty. His experiences are spectacular: nights alone in the jungle, escapes from forest elephants, negotiations with armed militias - and again and again moments of silent observation and scientific discovery. He not only documented previously unknown animal species, but also bizarre behaviors that astonish even researchers.
Hilgartner manages a unique balancing act between thrilling adventure and sound science. His presentations are more than mere travelogues - they are powerful appeals for the preservation of our last remaining wildernesses. With brilliant photos and video sequences, personal narration and a deep respect for nature, he takes his audience into habitats that are increasingly disappearing. A lecture that moves, inspires - and lasts a long time.
