St. John Passion with the Freiburger Bachchor

On 29 and 30 March 2025, the Freiburger Bachchor will perform the St. John Passion by Johann Sebastian Bach under the direction of Frank Markowitsch. and 30 March 2025, the Freiburg Bach Choir will perform Johann Sebastian Bach's St. John Passion under the direction of Frank Markowitsch together with the Freiburg Bach Orchestra and renowned soloists. The concert on Saturday, March 29, will take place at 7 p.m. in Freiburg Minster, the concert on Sunday, March 30, at 6 p.m. in the Konzerthaus (concert hall) Freiburg.

The Passion story has always fascinated and influenced composers. Countless works have been created that tell the story of Judas' betrayal, Jesus' capture, the interrogation before Pilate and the crucifixion of Jesus. And at the end, there is the certainty of faith, which is expressed in comforting words in the St. John Passion: "Rest well, you holy bones, which I now no longer mourn, rest well and bring me also to rest".
