Freiburger Barockorchester
Gottfried von der Goltz, violin & conductor

For 25 years, the musicians of the Freiburger Barockorchester have regularly traveled to Stuttgart's Liederhalle and the Berlin Philharmonie for their concert series. Now we would like to take a closer look at the music that we would have encountered on this route in the 18th century and make a few musical stops along the way on our journey from the far southwest to the capital. In Rastatt we hear a majestic overture by Johann Caspar Ferdinand Fischer, in Stuttgart Christoph Pez's Concerto Pastorale with its magnificent passacaglia. Johann Sigismund Kusser welcomes us in Ansbach with his programmatic 3rd Overture in G minor, before we meet Johann Ludwig Bach in Meiningen, a distant and highly revered relative of Johann Sebastian. You will hear his 4th Brandenburg Concerto together with Georg Philip Telemann's Concerto for Two Violins on our last leg from Eisenach to Berlin.

On this journey, it becomes clear how different the influences on the various regions were. In the south-west it was the spirit of Lully that inspired the composers, in central Germany we encounter Italian manners and in the north-east Bach and Telemann were able to develop their own individual styles. This concert will therefore not only be a tribute to our subscription route, but also a musical discovery tour with many insights.

A free introductory lecture will take place at 7.15 pm in the Rolf Böhme Hall.
