Lisa Streich ISHJÄRTA Robert Schumann Violin Concerto in D minor WoO 1 Dmitri Shostakovich Symphony No. 6 in B minor op. 54 The Swedish word ISHJÄRTA literally means "ice heart". In this composition, Lisa Streich deals with the question of whether it is possible to feel two emotions at the same time, whether they can lie on top of each other individually or whether they have to become a third new one. This is exactly what we hear in her music. A superimposition of different sound spaces that intermingle - or do they not? Robert Schumann's last orchestral work, his violin concerto, was not performed during his lifetime and was not initially published after his death. The great violinist Joseph Joachim attested that there were technical difficulties in the last movement. As a result, the work was not premiered until around 80 years after it was written. Today, this concerto is a firm and popular part of the repertoire for soloists all over the world. When you think of the music of Dmitri Shostakovich, dramatic melodies and drastic rhythms certainly come to mind. In his 6th Symphony, however, he strikes a different tone. He wanted to convey moods of spring, joy and youth in this composition. For political reasons, the symphony was to be dedicated to Lenin and include a poem in his honor - a fate that Shostakovich was able to avert for his work. In this symphony, he works his way from a slow first movement to a wild gallop in the finale - a relatively cheerful masterpiece by the grand master, who is otherwise better known for his desperate pathos.
