4th symphony concert

Carola Bauckholt ATEMPAUSE Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Horn Concerto No. 2 in E flat major KV 417 Anton Bruckner Symphony No. 4 in E flat major WAB 104 THE ROMANTIC We open the first symphony concert of the new quarter of the 21st century with Carola Bauckholt's ATEMPAUSE (2001). A work that sounds like a reminiscence of the music of the industrial revolution. We hear a mechanically beating heart that accompanies us through a fantastically scary world, like in a Poe horror story, until we open our eyes at the end and see that all is well after all. The second of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's four horn concertos brings us the highest virtuosity with a very spirited instrument and with Sibylle Mahni we can experience a wonderful and sensitive soloist. Mozart would not be Mozart, however, if he did not allow himself a little joke in addition to a successful composition, and so we read the dedication of this concerto: "Wolfgang Amadé Mozart took pity on the Leitgeb donkey, ox and fool". We take a brief look back at the Bruckner year that has just passed with Anton Bruckner's 4th Symphony THE ROMANTIC. As soon as we hear the tremolos in the violins with majestic horn calls, typical of Bruckner, we recognize the 4th Symphony. According to the composer, his inspiration was a transfigured medieval city. A bombastic work - perfect for warming the soul on cold winter days.
