Waldtraut - Germany's tallest tree
Where is the highest tree in the nation? Exactly, in the Freiburg Mühlwald in Freiburg Günterstal!
It is a 106-year-old Douglas fir named Waldtraut vom Mühlwald. It measures a proud 67 meters and is therefore not only the tallest tree in the Black Forest, but also holds the record for the tallest tree in Germany!
You can visit Waldtraut vom Mühlwald wonderfully on a short hike along the Mühlwaldweg. Good starting points here are the Kyburg bus stop or the parking lot on Schauinslandstraße in the district of Freiburg Günterstal. On wooden information boards on the tree, interested visitors can learn even more details about the famous Freiburg Douglas fir.
