Schauinslandbahn
The Schauinsland cable car covers a height difference of 746 m over a length of 3600 m. It was put into operation in 1930 as the world's first circulating passenger cable car. The Schauinsland is 1284 m high.
From the valley station behind Günterstal (accessible by bus and streetcar from FR-Mitte), you can reach the summit and summit tower in 20 minutes. The view from the Schauinslandbahn cable car sweeps across the Rhine plain, the vineyards of Tuniberg and Kaiserstuhl all the way to the Vosges mountains. From the summit, the view extends to the Feldberg, the beautiful Upper Black Forest and far beyond to the Alps.
The Schauinsland is an ideal recreational area for hiking, biking, Nordic walking, paragliding and winter sports. Other highlights include Europe's longest scooter track, the Schauinsland mining museum and the Schniederlihof farmhouse museum. Cozy inns invite you to stop for a bite to eat. Float away!
