Climate change, heat islands and the loss of biodiversity pose growing challenges for cities. While cities are looking for effective strategies to adapt to climate change, the greening of urban spaces is often underestimated, even though it plays a central role in a sustainable and liveable urban climate.

The "Urban Green" program implements the requirements of urban nature planning with concrete measures to improve the urban climate and promote biodiversity.

The presentation will highlight key strategies for climate-adapted urban development and show how green infrastructure can function as an integral part of a resilient city.

Using projects such as the Ueberlandpark or the Josef-Areal, practical examples and planning approaches will be presented that show how "urban green" is more than just an aesthetic enhancement - it is a necessary element for the future of the city.
