Workshop: From romanticism to right-wing populism

The history of ideas behind right-wing populism and the AfD will be examined in a workshop on Wednesday, February 12, at 7 p.m. at the Catholic Academy Freiburg, Wintererstr. 1.

Eugen Schmid, an adult educator from Freiburg, will show how romantic thought patterns (1780-1820) have shaped political attitudes that are still effective today: From the rejection of the Enlightenment and the emphasis on an irrational idea of Volkstums to criticism of the EU and migration.
