Background information:
From now on, electronic patient files will be created automatically for people with statutory health insurance so that doctors can store and retrieve medical data digitally via the health card. The ePA offers numerous advantages, including better coordination of medical care and easy access to personal health data. However, there are also limits to its use. Patients are called upon to actively engage with this innovation in order to be able to make a decision. Anyone who does not agree to the use of electronic patient records must lodge an objection with their own health insurance company.
