An evening about fasting and enjoyment, silence and simplicity, ageing and the experience of illness, joy and comfort, conflict and dialog.
About happiness, longing and the power of spirituality
He has been a monk for over 60 years. He became famous as a globally successful bestselling author and charismatic speaker. And yet he has always remained close to people. He is now 80 and is still active - open, approachable and curious. What is the core of his wisdom? What are the sources from which he lives? In this book, he looks back on his life in an interview with Rudolf Walter and what has become important to him on his own path. What gives him hope in troubled times? Why does he believe that people are born to be happy and that there is a way to get there - for everyone? It is about fasting and enjoyment, silence and simplicity, about growing old and experiencing illness, about joy and consolation, conflict and dialog. How is the search for the good life connected to his lifelong search for God? And how does he view the forgetfulness of God in the present and the crisis of tradition? An unusual balance sheet: not just a life told, but a life reflected upon.
Father Anselm Grün is a monk at the Benedictine Abbey of Münsterschwarzach, a spiritual guide, leadership trainer and successful spiritual author. He became a monk at the age of 19, studied philosophy, theology and business administration and was responsible for the economic affairs of the abbey as cellerarer until 2013. Today he devotes himself entirely to writing and lecturing. He is now known far beyond the borders and his books have been translated into over 30 languages.
