Lecture: The Documentation Center for National Socialism introduces itself

Lecture: The Documentation Center for National Socialism introduces itself

In spring 2025, the Documentation Center for National Socialism, sponsored by the Municipal Museums of Freiburg, will open in a central location in Freiburg, in the former transport office on Rotteckring, which was built in 1936. In this way, the city of Freiburg is creating the first facility explicitly dedicated to the history of National Socialism on an area of around 800 square meters. The architectural centerpiece is the central memorial room in the covered inner courtyard, which is dedicated to all Freiburg residents who were persecuted and murdered during the Nazi era. The lecture sheds light on the history of its creation and provides insights into the exhibition concept and the associated didactic and curatorial considerations. In this context, the social role of places of learning about Nazi history for local and regional history education will also be reflected on in a more general way. The lecture will take place at the University campus Freiburg, Kollgiengebäude I, lecture hall 1015. Participation is free of charge.
