Viendo Viento - VAYA Art of Human Movement

Book tickets

Gravity is followed by falling: after exploring gravity through dance (A Pebble Falling on a Silent Lake, 2023), the Freiburg-based company VAYA (artistic director/choreographer Tina Halford) turns its attention to the physics of falling. The new piece Viendo Viento treats falling as a dynamic process, not as a moment of failure, but as the source of new kinetic energy and as a poetic act of constant transformation.

The four dancers (Alexandre Nodari, Patryk Klos, Sergey Poltavsky, Tina Halford) experiment with kinetics as a source of acrobatic movement compositions.

The walk-on stage set inspired by a wave allows for a provocative dialog with gravity. The limits of what is physically possible are explored in a virtuosic and poetic way and falling is presented as a perpetual cycle of transformation.

The stage becomes a dance partner, the space is explored vertically. Unusual and fascinating images are created that put the audience's perception to the test. The dizzying round dance is accompanied by an interplay of sound design (Iskander Yerimbetov, Maria Teriaeva) and light (Steffen Melch, Konrad Frensch).

Viendo Viento is a dance piece that celebrates the power of the unpredictable and shows how a new balance can emerge from the apparent loss of stability, even in movement.
