Drumming workshop with Moussa

Moussa Afiya Bayfal Mbaye comes from a griot family in Dakar. Griots are musicians and healers and animate weddings, christenings and other celebrations and events. Moussa was already accompanying a dance group as a djembe player at the age of 11. At 15, he became a soloist on three different instruments: Djembe, Sabar and Soruba. The five sabar drums and the associated rhythms were invented by Moussa's grandfather Seng Seng Faye. Many members of his family are world-famous musicians and composers. After touring in Africa, Moussa Afiya embarked on a three-year tour of Europe with the Groupe Nationale Senegal at the age of 19.

On Saturday, September 20, drumming classes will be held as part of the all-day music flea market.
