The Waldhof Book Club (English)

From spring 2025, the Waldhof will be offering a Book Club, which will take place every six months on two weekend days. Anyone who loves English-language books and wants to maintain and improve their English conversation skills in a relaxed atmosphere is invited to join the Waldhof Book Club, which is cosmopolitan and discusses English-language books from around the world. Topics range from fiction to non-fiction, biography, anthropology and popular science from the past and present; three books are discussed each weekend. Discussion may also be based on essays from the New York Review of Books, which take up cultural or scientific topics in the style of reviews. book suggestions will be sent to participants by the Waldhof team in good time before the planned meeting. prior literary knowledge is not a prerequisite for participation. Dr. Esche-Ramshorn, Christiane. The course leader is an art historian, currently living in Cambridge, U.K. She has published on the Italian Renaissance and on topics in her current field of research, the cultural transfer between Europe and the western section of the Silk Road, especially Armenia. She is a life member of Clare Hall, Cambridge and has been a researcher at the University of Cambridge and a fellow of the Bibliotheca Hertziana (Max Planck Institute), in Rome.
