Studio Visit: Michaela Tröscher, the Icelandic Pianist "The Edda is a dog"

Four Freiburg art institutions are cooperating for the Studio Visit event series: the Galerie für Gegenwartskunst E-Werk event rooms, the Kunstverein, the Museum für Neue Kunst (Museum of Contemporary Art) and the PEAC Museum. Once a month, a public studio visit is offered in Freiburg, organized and accompanied by one of the four exhibition venues. The visits offer the opportunity to gain an insight into the practice of artists in Freiburg at the production site and to enter into conversation about the work presented. The artist translates the Icelandic emigration novels "Dwelling Place of the Winds" and "The Tree of Life" by Bö∂var Gu∂mundsson into sculpture and music as a Gesamtkunstwerk. In this historical tale, the Icelanders immigrate from the Old World to the New World. In connection with this, the sculptor makes historical and social references to her own family history, which is rooted in the Black Forest and Freiburg.
