Summer Concert 2: Papillon Quartet

As the second concert in the Musiklandschaften e.V. summer concert series, the Papillon Quartet will perform in St. Agatha's Church in Horben. The program includes String Quartet No. 14 in D minor D 810 "Death and the Maiden" by Franz Schubert, as well as Sergei Prokofiev's String Quartet No. 1 in B minor op. 50. The "Papillon Quartet" was founded in September 2024 and consists mainly of music students from the Freiburg University of Music. The quartet is taught by Prof. Cantoreggi, among others. The four ensemble members currently live and study in Freiburg and play together several times a week. The name "Papillon" came about rather by chance. A butterfly seemed appropriate for the sometimes delicate, melancholy music of Schubert's quartet "Death and the Maiden", which was the quartet's first project.
