Sommerklang 2024: Dancing with Mozart - workshop for historical dance

The Freiburg Baroque Orchestra is organizing the "Sommerklang" festival for the 3rd time!
On two weekends in June and July, many small concerts and events for young and old will take place in Freiburg's city center as well as in and around the ensemble building under the motto "The FBO dances".

Dancing with Mozart - workshop for historical dance

"Last week I gave a ball in my apartment...We started at 6 o'clock in the evening and finished at 7 o'clock, - what, just one hour? - No no - in the morning at 7 o'clock", wrote the enthusiastic dancer Wolfgang A. Mozart wrote to his father in 1783.

We will trace this special passion for dancing in this extraordinary dance workshop. To baroque dance music, we will learn various spatial figures and dance forms that were common in Mozart's time, as well as a choreography that allows us to relive Schiller's enthusiasm for the ever-popular anglais. The musicians play live - an extraordinary and unique experience!

Whether beginner, advanced or professional, young or old: the experienced dance teacher Uwe W. Schlottermüller takes us into the magical atmosphere of the ballrooms of Mozart's time!

We recommend light clothing and light shoes, preferably not sports shoes or sneakers.
