"Sneak Preview": Music students rock the Jazzhaus
From jazz, pop and Latin to a cappella ensembles, singer/songwriters or heavy metal: at the "Sneak Preview", students from the College of Music Freiburg perform two concerts a year at the Jazzhaus. The young professionals perform their own compositions and well-known pieces and present what they have been working on all semester. From duos to the university big band: the program is groovy, poetic, bold and full of creative energy.
On July 8 and 9, 2024, the "Sneak Preview" summer concerts of the College of Music Freiburg will take place at the Jazzhaus. Students will perform self-composed pieces and classics from the entire range of jazz and pop classes: Large ensembles from the university such as the big band or the Latin ensemble will perform, as well as jazz combos, a cappella groups, rock bands and other student ensembles from different styles and often with unusual line-ups.
Different formations at a high level
Ralf Schmid, Professor of Jazz Piano at the College of Music in Jazzhaus, who organizes the evenings, is enthusiastic about the freshness and energy of the students: "It's exciting to hear how the music at the Jazzhaus evenings is constantly changing, reflecting current trends and shedding new light on traditions. Whether a cappella ensembles, singer/songwriters, crossover, deep funk, electro, folk, guajira, hip-hop, indie or combos from the many varieties of jazz: the students want to express themselves through music and find an open format for this on the Jazzhaus stage."
The "Sneak Preview" has a long tradition: students from the jazz and pop classes have been presenting themselves on stage once a semester since 2003 and showcasing their skills in the special atmosphere of the Jazzhaus. For some years now, one evening has no longer been enough, which is why Tuesday has been added to the traditional Jazzhaus Monday - two evenings full of exciting music!
