Sigrid Sigurdsson: Cartography of a Journey - Lecture and talk with Viola Hildebrand-Schat

Book tickets

"Cartography of a Journey" is the title of an open archive set up by Sigrid Sigurdsson at the Osthaus Museum Hagen. The artist, who was born in Oslo in 1943 and now lives near Hamburg, attracted international attention with her installative archive and library projects. The work in Hagen, which has grown continuously since 1961, is an expansive exploration of memory and remembrance, a place of knowledge and experience that invites visitors to immerse themselves in the artist's collections of stories, drawings and objects.

The volume of the same name (modo Verlag, 2020) provides a comprehensive insight into Sigurdsson's work and brings together a selection of the stories she has written for the first time. Linked with drawings and objects, they illustrate a widely ramified system that visualizes processes of memory and history. Tonight, the artist will open it up in conversation with the publisher Viola Hildebrand-Schat and the audience.
