Seminar series | Regional studies: France

Price: from 1.00€ to 5.00€

Our seminar series "Regional Studies: France" is back with a new topic: Dr. Winfried Veit will talk about Franco-German relations!

Les incertitudes franco-allemandes. A new start or continuing in the old rut?

Franco-German relations are at a low point. The German side in particular has ignored the French desire for "strategic autonomy" in Europe for decades, which is taking its revenge in view of the changed geopolitical situation and the election of Donald Trump. Without close Franco-German cooperation, however, Europe will not be able to act. The seminar aims to present the opportunities for a new start and the dangers of "business as usual" and discuss the options for action for the players on both sides.

Dr. Winfried Veit is a political scientist and journalist. He taught German and French foreign policy at the University campus Freiburg's France Center for many years and headed the Friedrich Ebert Foundation's office in Paris for several years. He is the author of numerous publications on international issues.
