Plan for the Mooswald center
Thursday, 27/03/2025 / 07:00 PM / city of Freiburg
The winning design for the Mooswald center was chosen at the end of February 2025. BB and Hannes Hörr from Stuttgart will design the new center of the Mooswald district. The aim is to upgrade the district and create more living space. The winning design also provides for the houses in Im Ochsenstein with their characteristic Zollinger roofs to be retained. This winning design will be presented at an information evening.
The architectural firms had the task of submitting a concept for the preservation or demolition of the FSB terraced houses in Ochsensteinweg. In the winning design, the houses will remain there and can be gradually renovated. Two new timber hybrid buildings are to be constructed between the existing ones.
Citizens were able to get involved
A special aspect of the competition was the involvement of the district's residents, who discussed and exchanged ideas with the architects and planners on two evenings. Around 200 interested parties took part in the citizens' dialogs. The information, recommendations and wishes of the residents were incorporated into all stages of the process and into the final decision as far as possible.
Presentation of the winning design on March 27
On this date, the city and FSB will present the winning design in the canteen of the Wentzinger schools. There will also be information on the further procedure and a timeline for implementation.
The final four designs from the planning competition will then be exhibited in the foyer of the Westbad for a week from Monday, March 31.
