Pinocchio

In 1881, Carlo Collodi published his stories about the living wooden puppet who embarks on a fantastic journey under the title LE AVVENTURE DI PINOCCHIO (PINOCCHIO'S ADVENTURES) in an Italian weekly newspaper. The author did not live to see the worldwide success that his novel, published in book form shortly afterwards, was to enjoy in the 20th century. However, the motifs and characters he invented are still familiar to (almost) every child today: the puppet theater that leads Pinocchio off the path on his way to school, the fox and tomcat, the shady crook animals from the forest, the talking cricket, the fairy with the blue hair, the giant shark that has swallowed Pinocchio's father, the woodcarver Geppetto - and the nose that starts to grow uncontrollably when the wooden puppet does not stick one hundred percent to the truth. This year's Christmas children's play about the brave wooden puppet with the good heart will be staged by Benedikt Grubel, who is familiar to Freiburg audiences from productions such as KARLSSON VOM DACH, WIE DER WAHNSINN MIR DIE WELT ERKLÄRTE and OZ. Together with Michael Kaiser, he is developing his own version of the classic story. It traces the small and large philosophical questions that the brave puppet (and we) encounter on his adventurous journey. Information on group bookings, the Relaxed Performance, performances with interpreters for German Sign Language (DGS) and a summary of the play in plain language (after the premiere) can be found here: [www.theater.freiburg.de/kinderstueck]https://theater.freiburg.de//de_DE/junges-theater-info?
