Philipp Poisel
Neon Acoustic Orchestra
Saturday, 12/10/2024 / 08:00 PM / Konzerthaus Freiburg (Concert hall)
With Philipp Poisel and his Neon Acoustic Orchestra, one of Germany's most sensitive voices is returning to the country's most beautiful stages in the fall of 2024.
Actually, it would be enough if it were just Philipp Poisel. The voice, the songs, the lyrics, the unique way he sings. Just this very special and unique guy. Since his debut in 2008, Poisel has stood for music that doesn't need pomp or spectacle. He produces music that knows how to inspire on its own, that touches you, envelops you. But if you listen to his new record, NEON ACOUSTIC ORCHESTRA, which was recorded live in Metzingen at the beginning of April '23 in front of a few friends and fans from Philipp's loyal audience, it quickly becomes clear that the musician, who was born in southern Germany in 1983, has a little more to offer here. And on the upcoming live tour for this wonderful document, Poisel will not only be performing with his band, which has grown over the years, but will also be bringing along horns and strings: Trombone, horn, flugelhorn, alto/soprano saxophone, cello, viola, violin - recruited from long-standing accompanists and a few brilliant new additions. Alin Coen, who has been a regular since PROJEKT SEEROSENTEICH (2012), also sings second vocals alongside Philipp.
When Poisel recorded the album in Metzingen in April, the aim was not just to translate the dense and warm studio production of his album NEON (2021), from which we should already know the tracks. The magic of the live moment should be palpable, the crackle. And the beauty that the wild 13 (no fewer musicians on stage!) have captured here can now unfold again and again, with each of the evenings likely to be unique: In the delicacy and intensity of the interplay, there is always a dialog with the respective space in which Poisel and his accomplices perform their songs - and so there is always an interplay with the audience.
