"For the rest of your life" - the time reference at the beginning sets the framework for the confrontation, the starting point of which lies heavily in the past. In P R I S M, the American composer Ellen Reid explores the inner life of a young woman who has to cope with experiences of assault and sexual abuse. In search of a place of refuge, she moves between the components of the musical glow in order to end the inner white glow in new colors and forms and to advance into an afterlife - beyond the dense fabric of emotional surges and darkening, through which she makes the inner process vividly tangible for musical theater. Following its world premiere in Los Angeles in 2018, Reid's Pulitzer Prize-winning chamber opera will be performed in Europe for the first time in October 2024.
