Nomadics
Friday, 23/05/2025 / 08:00 PM / Theater Freiburg - Small House
In NOMADICS, eight dancers explore how they can give nature a voice. It is the place par excellence that we go to find relaxation - but what do we give back to it? The Belgian company Voetvolk shows us how nature looks back at man and endures his footsteps. The dancers show how nature reclaims its place and takes revenge. They transform into a (temporary) angry landscape: sometimes they are a tree, sometimes they are grass. Sometimes they are rock, sometimes they are human. This constant transformation is full of beauty and friction at the same time. There is tension in the air. But as physics teaches us: friction leads to warmth, to deceleration and ultimately to change. Through their joint efforts, the dancers seek a connection with nature and with each other. As is typical of the Voetvolk company, the music in this piece is also in close symbiosis with the dance. Musician and composer Maarten Van Cauwenberghe brings the Kleine Haus to life with a unique environmental techno of natural sounds and noises. Before the performance, the dancers will go on a three-hour walk through the Black Forest and invite the audience to join them. The aim of the walk is to observe, experience and connect with the landscape. From the allure and noise of the city to the silence of nature and back to the urban hustle and bustle. The walk ends directly on the stage in the Kleines Haus, where the paths part and the performance begins. When: Friday, May 23, from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Where: We start outside the city and walk together to Theater Freiburg. The starting point will be announced, it will be accessible by public transportation. Duration: Approx. 3 hours, the hike flows seamlessly into the performance of NOMADICS. There will be a short break during the walk. Distance: 10 - 12 km Difficulty level: Medium. You should be in good basic physical condition. You will receive further information after registration.
