Romantic meets classical
The Variations on a Rococo Theme, op. 33 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky sound floating and virtuosic. They demand technical perfection from the soloist. The piece was written during a difficult period in the composer's life and meant a return to the sound world of the 18th century, which he perceived as wholesome and carefree. Mozart was his creative ideal. A version for viola and orchestra will be performed.
Symphony No. 33 in B flat major, K. 319 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart follows on seamlessly from this in terms of style. It has a playful, feather-light character and almost chamber music-like features due to the reduced orchestration.
The two Peer Gynt Suites Nos. 1 and 2, op. 46 and op. 55 by Edvard Grieg sound completely different. They are a selected compilation of pieces from the music to Henrik Ibsen's play of the same name and take you into Peer Gynt's world, its moods and emotions in a highly romantic manner.
The orchestra is looking forward to your visit!
