Celebrating Good Friday with Bach can be a blessing for the soul. In cantatas BWV 46 and 127, Bach finds particularly poignant timbres for suffering and hope, testing all the dramatic effects that he would use in the following months and years for his great Passion settings: Jesus' tears on the cross, the raging thunderstorms in God's judgment as harbingers of the lightning and thunder of the St. Matthew Passion as well as the plea for forgiveness and consolation "until we blissfully fall asleep".

The newly founded chamber choir at the Christuskirche and Christusbarock will perform together under the direction of district cantor Lars Schwarze.
