Imprisoned and co-punished - How imprisonment affects the lives of relatives

Free entry

How does the imprisonment of a person affect the lives of their relatives? The film "Mitgefangen" by Anna Furrer (Switzerland 2023) and the subsequent discussion on Monday, November 4, at 7 pm at the Katholische Akademie Freiburg, Wintererstr. 1, as well as online, are dedicated to this question.

Imprisonment not only changes the life of the person concerned, but also puts a strain on relatives such as partners, children and parents. They suddenly have to cope with financial difficulties, changes in everyday life and often also social exclusion. Stigmatization and uncertainty lead to emotional stress and relatives often feel like "fellow prisoners and co-punishers".

How can this situation be dealt with - individually and socially? The film and the subsequent discussion will shed light on these questions. Monika Fröwis (SKM - Katholischer Verein für soziale Dienste in der Stadt Freiburg e. V., Freiburg), Sven Vasquez (person with prison experience) and Martin Vrana (prison chaplain, Freiburg) will discuss these issues.

The event is being held in cooperation with the Catholic Association for the Assistance of Offenders and the German Caritas Association.

Admission is free. Registration at: www.katholische-akademie-freiburg.de
