Michael Moos: And nothing became as it was ... - Reading and discussion with Julia Wolrab in the Counter Words series

Book tickets

"Emigration, persecution and extermination of the Jews were kept away from me as a child and teenager," writes Michael Moos. In his life story, published in 2025 by the Oberer Kuhberg Documentation Center and the Ulm City Archives, the Freiburg lawyer, defence lawyer and long-time local councillor of the Left List now traces the fascinating path of his family, who were cattle dealers and peddlers in Swabia for centuries. Until the Nazis came - and the Moos parents fled. When they left Tel Aviv in 1953 with the now six-year-old Michael, they were the only Ulm-born Jews to return to their old homeland.

Michael Moos talks about the painful return and his own committed departure. In Freiburg, the father of three discovered his passion for local politics and helped write the city's most recent history, which will open a new page in 2025 with the Documentation Center for National Socialism (DZNS). Welcome: Ulrich von Kirchbach (First Mayor of the City of Freiburg), Moderation: Julia Wolrab (DZNS).
