LeseLounge - Martina Clavadetscher "Before everyone's eyes" (2022)

The girl with the pearl earring or the lady with the ermine: the current edition of the LeseLounge at the Augustinermuseum is all about the book "Vor aller Augen" (2022) by Martina Clavadetscher. In her text, the Swiss author gives a voice to the women depicted in world-famous paintings by Leonardo da Vinci, Vermeer, Rembrandt, Courbet, Schiele and Munch. They are captured for eternity, but their portraits usually remain speechless or nameless - and are relentlessly exposed to the gaze of the viewer. Clavadetscher has researched their names and living conditions as well as their relationship to the artists and written fictional monologues on this basis. At the event, those interested will learn about the time the works were created, the situations of the women depicted and the mechanisms in the art world. Participation in the event costs 10 euros, concessions 8 euros. Tickets are available in the online store.
