Lena Hällmayer: Climate fear and courage to change - Big break for teachers, parents and interested parties

The climate crisis is here. With this realization, stirring feelings and questions enter our own lives. What can I do as an individual? How can I give children hope in the face of seemingly unsolvable problems? Give them positive guidance for the future when their own confidence is crumbling?

Illustrator and art teacher Lena Hällmayer has documented her exploration of these questions in drawings over the course of three years. With "Klimaangst und Wandelmut" (Jaja Verlag, 2024), she presents a very personal graphic narrative that records the diversity of climate feelings between helplessness and perseverance, resignation and fighting spirit. In addition to an exchange on mediation strategies, Lena Hällmayer invites you to a practical introduction to the artistic technique of "thinking by drawing".

The "Big Break" - our exchange that takes place three times a year - is aimed at all those who are enthusiastic about literature and its mediation.
