Kreidler
We are delighted to welcome the techno/post-rock/pop/ambient sounding guys from Düsseldorf. Kreidler was our last concert before the big lockdown - and the concert was, in short, phenomenal! Thomas Klein, Andreas Reihse, Detlef Weinrich and Stefan Schneider have a shared vision of modern art. From the very beginning, the quartet did not see themselves merely as a band, but defined their performance space audiovisually. Electronics and analog instruments merge with suitable images to create music - Kreidler follow in the footsteps of the "Düsseldorf schools" of the 70s and 80s post-punk/new wave.
Reihse and, for a time, Klein have been working with former Kraftwerk/NEU!-/La Düsseldorf mastermind Klaus Dinger in the formation la!NEU? since 1996, while Schneider explored the infinite expanses of post-rock with To Rococo Rot. Kreidler thus move between Krautrock revival and the early Chicago post-rock idea around Tortoise. The Anglo-American New Wave influence is reflected in the bass lines a la Factory Records, collaborations with Daniel Miller from Mute Records are interspersed with work with Mouse on Mars and Chicks on Speed. John Peel was a Kreidler fan, as were David Bowie, Stereolab and Pavement.
Kreidler have made guest appearances in museums such as the New York Museum Of Modern Art or the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Goethe Institute has sent them on concert tours, Chanel and Lacoste have already had Kreidler accompany their fashion shows with music.
Action Group are Alex Maiolo and Nick Williams from Chapel Hill, North Carolina and San Francisco, California. The duo
Action Group builds a piece of music on modular synths - somewhere between high-concept stuff and a melange of electro, motorik, ambient and very early Detroit techno. All very danceable "electronic music" produced live only modular and with some Elektron boxes - without computers or turntables - the transitions are spacy and electronically spiritualized...
Action Group have toured the globe several times, played at Resident Advisor events and worked with Junior Boys, Hagop Tchaparian (Four Tet), Colloboh, Dan Deacon, Dream Syndicate, Band of Horses, Caribou, Polvo and others.
