The specialist press attests to Murtfeld's "enormous vitality and verve" as well as "ease and sovereignty". International appearances have taken him to major festivals and across several continents. His CD recordings have received great international acclaim and have been recommended as CD tips by broadcasters such as SWR2, Bayern Klassik, Radio Bremen and Österreichischer Rundfunk Ö1.
In his piano recital in Bad Liebenzell, the musician will devote himself to the rarely performed piano works of Bach's youngest son Johann Christian, a pioneer of Viennese classical music. In addition to the popular work L'Isle joyeuse by Debussy, in which the composer ignites an impressionistic-virtuoso firework of sound colors, there is the Piano Sonata in A flat major op. 26, which is characterized by a lyrically colored variation movement and a characteristic funeral march (Marcia Funebre). On the other hand, the Handel Variations op. 24 by Johannes Brahms can be heard, which represent one of the most important contributions to this musical form in piano music.
