Julie Völk: The long while - Wild Friday with ideas (from 5 years)

Emil is sitting in his room and doesn't feel like doing anything. Until a strange, huge figure knocks on the window, who introduces himself as a long while. A very long while. Emil doesn't really know what to do with her. She doesn't want to play with him, doesn't want to read to him and certainly doesn't want to make up stories. "No way," says the long while in horror and gets Emil so excited with her displeasure that ideas just tumble out of him.

After "Wie anders ist alt" and "Dann gehe ich jetzt, sagte die Zeit", Troisdorf Picture Book Award-winning artist Julie Völk and author Bettina Obrecht once again tackle a philosophical, everyday family topic. "Die lange Weile" (Tulipan, 2024) is a tribute to the power of the imagination, which transforms Emil's nursery into a stage for countless stories in delicate drawings - and the Literaturhaus into a drawing workshop after the reading.
