Jonethen Fuchs

Jonethen Fuchs

The songwriter founded and played in the Dresden Britrock band "The Smokkings" back in 2007, where he also gained his first compositional and lyrical experience.
In 2013 he finally decided to start his solo project and form a separate backing band: "Johnethen Fuchs & the Woods".
Since 2014, he has played well over 400 concerts throughout Germany and neighboring countries. Partly as part of extensive solo tours, but also with a full band, e.g. at various festivals and as a support act for international artists such as Jordan Prince (USA), The Dead Heavys (Ireland), The Bland (Sweden) and Tim McMillan (Australia).
The songs, which range between folk, pop and indie, are sometimes euphoric, sometimes melancholic.
The debut album "Algeroy", released in 2015, is a harmonious, sometimes thoughtful sound experience that you can indulge in and let yourself drift wonderfully.
The voice stands out from the genre-typical framework: voluminous blues vocals, tender-soft falsetto or snotty-raw rock voice - the surprisingly versatile singing permeates the often autobiographical songs with devotion.
The second album "Less Is Not Enough", which was released in 2018, is more differentiated and arranged on a larger scale. The title says it all and the 13 songs are about enduring longing, not giving up and striving for more in order to feel alive in every fiber of body and mind.
After the production of the third album came to a standstill in 2020 due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, we can now look forward to releases in 2022.
In terms of both content and composition, the British rocker is venturing into deeper territory.
In addition to a broader field of musical expression, it is above all vulnerability and deliberate imperfectionism that makes the artist and his work seem approachable, empathetic and alive.
The album concept deals with the feeling of alienation in connection with the urge to break out of familiar living environments. Various key moments, such as isolation, inner turmoil, reflection and reorientation, are exemplified in the songs.
On the one hand to raise awareness of these problems, and on the other to articulate the associated thoughts and emotions.
Those affected often feel alone in this, but there are many of them.
This is where music should offer points of contact and connection.
