Jazz Festival Fringe - Showcase Freiburg

David William Hughes and the house band of the Jazz & Rock Schools Freiburg present Freiburg's best music and performance acts in four exciting evenings.

Showcase Freiburg is a new monthly pop music event in the Auditorium of the Jazz & Rock Schools Freiburg and is hosted by David William Hughes. In the style of a late-night TV show with games, interviews and a house band, Showcase Freiburg presents the best acts from the Freiburg music scene across genres and offers space for artistic collaboration.

This new concert series in the auditorium of the Jazz & Rock Schools Freiburg takes place on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Jazz & Rock Schools Freiburg and is supported by them, the Regionet of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg, the Cultural Office Freiburg and the Carl-Schurz-Haus.The series of events begins on September 17 with the Jazz Festival Fringe, followed by Pick'n'Mix (October 15), the 40th anniversary party of the Jazz & Rock Schools (November 12) and Christmas Jazz (December 10). The concerts all start at 8 pm, admission is free and donations are collected.

Presenter and bandleader David William Hughes made his international debut at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2017. After completing his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in music at Oxford University, David worked in Boston from 2014 to 2020. There he made a name for himself as an innovative and entertaining performer, singer and conductor and has performed with various ensemble and solo projects in the USA, UK, Australia, Israel, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden and Germany. David has been in Freiburg since 2020 and is delighted to be creating this new series of events.
