This series of organ concerts has been an integral part of Freiburg's summer cultural life for over 90 years. The unique organ installation in the wonderful space of the cathedral is a magnet for outstanding international performers and organ enthusiasts from all over the world. The symbiosis of space and sound inspires and fascinates performers and listeners alike - creating very special sound experiences and thrilling concert experiences.

Ernst Wally, born in Vienna in 1976, is a graduate of the Vienna Musikgymnasium. He studied organ (Franz Falter, Michael Radulescu), composition (Dietmar Schermann, Michael Jarrell, Frédéric Durieux), church music and music education.
After working as a liturgical organist at various renowned churches in Vienna, he was appointed to St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, first as assistant to the cathedral music, then in 2010 as full-time organist at St. Stephen's, and in 2016 he was appointed cathedral organist at St. Stephen's/Vienna.
Ernst Wally is an active international concert organist. He performs with the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Tonkünstler Orchestra and has been engaged by the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde.
Ernst Wally has composed works in a wide variety of genres. His works have been performed in various European countries and in Chile; he has received commissions for the "Carinthian Summer" festival, among others.
